About the Albuquerque Basketball Club

In November 2007, the AAU club was started. The team’s was first known at the Southwest Titans in 2008. Starting in  2009 and for the next 4 years, NBA and University of New Mexico star, Danny Granger provided a huge financial donation. Thus the name was changed to the Danny Granger Hurricanes 2009-2011. Danny Granger was the one who selected "Hurricanes" to be part of the name. From 2012-2015, the club partnered with Max Ivany and the D1 Nation based out of Austin, Texas. With Danny Granger giving us the approval to change the to the Danny Granger D1 Ambassadors . However, in 2016, the Club left the D1 Nation and went back as the Danny Granger Hurricanes. In the summer of 2016, NBA and University of New Mexico big man, Cameron Bairstow provide some financial support. Thus, the name was changed to the Bairstow Boomers, which  the name was selected by Cameron, himself. In 2018, the Club decided to change the name to the New Mexico Basketball Club (NMBC) Hurricanes.

The purpose of the NMBC Hurricanes, is to serve as an avenue to develop young high school players for the next step beyond high school basketball and to identify players of a higher caliber who have set their goals on reaching higher standards. The commitment is one to two practices a week and 5 to 7 competitive national and regional tournaments. Teams may also have additional training nights and multiple scrimmages.  This opportunity will provide each player the chance to play with some of the better players from New Mexico, El Paso area and neighboring states and prepare them for high school and collegiate competition.

The NMBC Hurricanes is always looking for players who are talented and dedicated to the sport of basketball. The NMBC Hurricanes looks for players who want to enhance their skills, fit into the coaching philosophy, play with the same level of talent and compete against quality competition throughout the year. We emphasize individual player development, the mental side of the game, team play, team chemistry, friendships and sportsmanship.

The NMBC Hurricanes teams consist of players who have passion for the game of basketball and want to improve on their skills sets throughout the year. This Club gives our players the ability to do just that, by surrounding them with coaches who have played college basketball and other very talented players. Our teams travel all over the United States and play against some of the best teams, players and coaches around.  NMBC Hurricanes strives to teach all aspects of the game: mentally, physically and emotionally.
